249Startups launches train-the-trainer programme in partnership with ILO

Orange Corners Sudan implementing partner 249Startups has launched a comprehensive train-the-trainer programme, aimed at upskilling trainers across the country. This initiative seeks to address the critical shortage of qualified trainers and coaches in Sudan by certifying participants as knowledgeable trainers for Orange Corners’ incubatees and other entrepreneurship training programmes.

The programme, which focuses on the SIYB (Start and Improve Your Business) manual, is led by Mr. Daleel Saoumi, a certified SIYB trainer provided by the ILO. The programme’s objectives are to enhance participants’ understanding of the SIYB manual, equip them with practical skills for business development and certify those who successfully complete the course as SIYB manual certified professional trainers.

The programme has attracted 30 business professionals from diverse backgrounds, including Orange Corners Sudan alumni, 249Startups staff and other professionals from the broader 249Startups network. Participants engage in interactive sessions held online via Telegram and Google Meet twice a week.

This training not only enhances the capabilities of the participants, but also contributes significantly to the development of Sudan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. By becoming certified trainers, participants gain the ability to transfer their knowledge to a broader community of entrepreneurs, potentially creating a sustained source of income for themselves. Additionally, the programme fosters the creation of a network of certified SIYB trainers connected to 249Startups, who will support various entrepreneurial initiatives as trainers and professionals – including Orange Corners.

The programme is a key step in bolstering Sudan’s entrepreneurial landscape, ensuring that a new generation of entrepreneurs has access to skilled and certified trainers who can guide them on their journey to success.
