On October 4, over 100 participants gathered in Bujumbura for the Burundi Policy Hackathon, an exciting event aimed at shaping the future of entrepreneurship in Burundi. Organised by Orange Corners in collaboration with i4policy and the NL Embassy in Burundi, the hackathon aimed to identify and address policy challenges faced by startups and SMEs, fostering a more supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in ecosystem mapping, problem identification and policy solution development. i4policy’s expert facilitators guided the collaborative efforts.
The hackathon reinforced the community’s commitment to advancing Burundi’s entrepreneurial landscape, with participants co-creating recommendations on how policies can better support growth and innovation. A lighthearted moment saw facilitator Aniya Hamilton engage the crowd with an energiser that revealed the multilingual talents of the group, underscoring the diverse expertise present.
