Behind every thriving startup is a strong network of supporters. On 4 March, more than 20 Dutch businesses joined Orange Corners and the NL Ministry of Foreign Affairs at De Hallen Studios in Amsterdam to explore strengthening public-private partnerships that support young entrepreneurs across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The event brought together diverse companies—from social enterprises to multinational corporations—all united by our shared mission to empower young entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
Since launching our first Orange Corner in South Africa in 2016, we’ve witnessed how private sector engagement creates impact through multiple channels. Partners contribute not just financially, but through mentorship, masterclasses, and sharing industry expertise—equipping young entrepreneurs with practical tools to transform bold ideas into successful businesses.
The networking lunch featured valuable insights on public-private partnerships from Marchel Gerrmann (Ambassador for Business and Development, NL Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Yasmina Khababi (Freshtable).
Among our most enthusiastic supporters, Heineken stands out as a partner who has been with us from the beginning. As our speaker Guus Vermeulen noted, they’re practically a founding partner, with collaboration now spanning seven different countries. We’re grateful to Guus for sharing Heineken’s journey with Orange Corners!
Following the presentations, Yasmina took attendees on a culinary journey through the Orange Corners network, featuring dishes from Algeria, Egypt, Mali, Mozambique, Ghana, Senegal, and beyond. The event embodied what collaboration is truly about: meaningful connections, engaging conversations, and shared experiences.
Did you miss this event? Due to overwhelming interest, we’ll be hosting more in the future! Whether you’re interested in country-level partnerships, access to finance collaborations, ecosystem development, or our alumni accelerator project, there’s a place for your company to make a difference.
