The participation of Orange Corners Erbil alumni at HITEX 2024, the largest annual exhibition for technology and electronics in Iraq, has been a remarkable success. Held at the Erbil International Fairground, HITEX 2024 was inaugurated on September 3rd by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani (Kurdistan Region of Iraq), who also visited the Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF) booth during his tour of the exhibition grounds.
From the very first day, the OCIF booth attracted significant attention. Among the notable visitors were not only the PM of the Kurdistan Region, but also Dutch Consulate representatives Mr. Jort Posthumus and Mr. Nali Bahaulddin, who expressed keen interest in the featured startups.
The three startups sponsored by OCIF highlight the intersection of technology with various sectors:
- Kevir Entertainment: a game development studio from Kurdistan, integrating the rich heritage of Mesopotamia into video games and visual solutions. Their impressive client list includes Columbia University, Invader Studios and USAID.
- Exchange Programmes: a platform simplifying global education opportunities for students and professionals in Iraq and Kurdistan, having supported over 4,500 individuals in pursuing higher education and international experiences since 2017.
- Wedonet: an online platform connecting freelancers with local and international businesses, offering services in graphic design, video production, animation, programming and more. They’ve worked with major organisations such as the UN, ABC News and Deutsche Welle.
