Ever wondered what it’s really like to go through an Orange Corners incubation or acceleration programme? We can tell you, but it’s even better to hear it directly from those who did it before you. Mohammed Amine Bouras, who just graduated from our Orange Corners Algeria programme reflected on his journey with Orange Corners on LinkedIn.
“Grateful reflections on an unforgettable journey”- By Mohammed Amine Bouras
I’d like to share one of the most transformative experiences I’ve had in the post-COVID era. Before the pandemic, I had a clear path, studying in China with plans firmly in place. But COVID changed everything, leaving me to rebuild from scratch.
Returning to Algeria was a tough choice. Many questioned it, calling it immature. Yet, I believed that every challenge holds an opportunity. I worked for over a year, then left my job, thinking success meant going abroad. But as I prepared for opportunities overseas, I realised: I wasn’t limited by opportunities, I was limited by my mindset.
Instead of looking outward, I started a project, eager to gain hands-on experience and understand the local market. This shift led me to an unexpected discovery. a year ago, while scrolling LinkedIn, I came across Orange Corners Algeria, implemented by SYLABS. At that moment, I was searching for a place where I could shape my skills and grow both personally and professionally. Curious but skeptical, I wondered if it was worth applying. Like many Algerians, I trusted international programmes but doubted local initiatives. I was wrong.
SYLABS proved to be more than just an incubator, it’s an academy in every sense. It offers a humble yet rich environment for learning, fueled by a network of brilliant local talents ands mentors. What stood out to me was the passion and dedication of their team, whose energy creates a culture rooted in leadership and agility. Every interaction feels authentic, and their impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem is undeniable.
As for Orange Corners, what stood out was their ability to mobilise key stakeholders, create ecosystems where every voice matters, and support entrepreneurs with unwavering commitment. They listen deeply, act meaningfully, and integrate participants into the entrepreneurial landscape, offering a front-row seat to how ecosystems thrive.
On top of that, what truly stands out is the remarkable synergy between Orange Corners and Sylabs, a partnership that feels like a beautifully composed symphony. They’ve created an inspiring, transformative programme where global vision meets local expertise.
This reminds me of a quote I’ve seen countless times since childhood in a small stationery shop:
“فكر عالميا وابدأ محليا” | “Think globally, start locally.”
Seeing it brought to life through Orange Corners and Sylabs has given it new meaning.
Lastly, I celebrate my fellow entrepreneurs, passionate, resilient people from across Algeria whose stories and experiences taught me lessons I’ll carry for life.
